Polestar will challenge Germany's high-performance elite brands, directly confronting BMW M and Mercedes-AMG.
IT Home February 25 News, on February 24, local time, according to foreign media Motor1, Polestar will launch four new vehicles within three years, with a single core goal — to challenge German high-performance brands.
According to the plan, the Polestar 5 will officially debut in 2026, while the Polestar 4 will launch a new version, expected to be a station wagon. In 2027, the second-generation Polestar 2 will be released, followed by the compact SUV Polestar 7 in 2028, further expanding the brand’s commercial lineup.
This product offensive has previously faced financial pressures, including a $900 million investment from parent company Geely Holding (IT Home note: current exchange rate approximately 6.2 billion RMB).
The report mentions that Polestar’s strategy is not just about recovery but a comprehensive upgrade. Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath clearly stated that the company will directly compete with BMW M and Mercedes-AMG. To this end, Polestar plans to develop the BST “Beast” badge, currently limited to the Polestar 2 limited edition, into an independent high-performance sub-brand.
Future high-performance models will feature more aggressive chassis tuning, track-oriented handling settings, and deliver faster acceleration experiences. The Polestar 2, 3, and 4 will all have high-performance variants.
The Polestar 5 is also expected to introduce a more aggressive version, targeting the Audi RS series and the latest high-performance pure electric flagship models.
As a flagship for the new phase, the Polestar 5 will be equipped with a 112kWh battery and an 800V high-voltage architecture. The performance version will produce 884 horsepower and approximately 1015 N·m of torque, positioning it in the pure electric luxury GT market.
A more powerful version of the Polestar 4 will follow. The new-generation Polestar 2 is expected to transform into a traditional sedan, with body dimensions possibly exceeding the current approximately 4600mm, and will launch a version comparable to Tesla Model 3 Performance.
The final debut, the Polestar 7, is positioned in the high-end compact C-SUV market, aiming to further enhance the brand’s influence in the zero-emission field.
