Airbus Opens 5,000-Seat Technology Center In Bengaluru To Expand India Operations

** Dhaka: Aircraft manufacturer Airbus on Friday, March 6, inaugurated a new technology facility in Bengaluru, marking a major expansion of its engineering and digital capabilities in India.**

The new facility, named the Airbus India Technology Centre, will function as a hub for engineering, digital transformation, customer services, and procurement activities, the company said in a statement.

The center was inaugurated by D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister of the Indian state of Karnataka, and Industries Minister M. B. Patil. India’s Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu attended the event virtually.

Senior company executives, including Airbus executive vice-president Catherine Jestin and India managing director Jürgen Westermeier, were also present.

According to Westermeier, the new facility represents a strategic acceleration of Airbus’s operations in India and will support the next phase of growth for the company in the country.

Airbus said its engineering presence in Bengaluru has evolved over the past two decades from a specialized unit into a multi-dimensional hub supporting several global aviation programs.

The new technology center spans roughly 8.8 lakh square feet and is designed to accommodate around 5,000 employees.

Work carried out at the facility will cover the entire aircraft lifecycle. Engineers and digital specialists will contribute to maintaining and optimizing Airbus’s commercial aircraft and helicopter programs.

The center will also support research and development in next-generation aircraft technologies, including cybersecurity, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing systems, the company added.
