Recently, Chinese Twitter (Chinese X) has indeed seen a surge of newcomers. Many people, upon seeing "Creator Earnings" double and the algorithm shift to prioritize Premium user interactions, hurriedly bought verified accounts to jump in and try to get a share of the pie.

In the past, Chinese Twitter's traffic was mainly monopolized by topics like gender issues, political debates, and crypto/stock speculation, where a single heated argument could make a post go viral. Now, suddenly, there's a flood of AI, OpenClaw (Lobster)-related content: some showcase "making thousands daily by helping people install Lobster," others boast "Agent Team running short video matrices for passive income," and some are directly selling custom skills on Xianyu for four-figure sums.
The typical path for these newcomers: register → verified account → repost/rewritten AI tutorials/Lobster tutorials → aggressively @ mutual followers → pray to go viral and earn ad revenue.
But reality is already hitting back—
- Fake engagement, mutual praise groups, bots, repetitive content, low-quality spam—caught easily. The new rules mean that first violation results in a 90-day suspension of earnings, and repeat offenses lead to permanent bans.
- The algorithm now values "genuine interactions + time spent by Premium users," making it hard for purely reposting accounts to profit solely from exposure.
- Many accounts are already lamenting, "Earnings have been suspended, Elon Musk no longer provides basic income," or "It might take a year to recover."
In the short term, this wave is driven by policy benefits and the Agent narrative, sparking a traffic frenzy. Most will be disappointed and leave once the bubble bursts, leaving little behind.
In the long term, there are still opportunities:
- Those who genuinely treat AI/Lobster as tools, share real prompts, develop skills, and share usage insights will gradually form small communities.
- The platform's promotion of articles and long-form content (even directly rewarding good articles with money) benefits creators willing to write in-depth and thoroughly.
- More people are better than fewer; increased discussion density accelerates information flow and makes truly interesting gameplay more likely to emerge.
In short: don’t just focus on the "money-making button." Take AI seriously as a productivity tool. Those who stick around are likely to be those who don’t treat the platform as a cash machine.
Among the tech-focused accounts you've been following recently, has anyone made you feel like "they're really using it, not just milking the cash cow"? Feel free to share and observe how many of these newcomers can survive this wave. 😂
