The UK government expands sanctions list to include Chinese entities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Strongly dissatisfied
On February 25th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A foreign media reporter asked about the UK government expanding its sanctions list against Russia, adding approximately 250 individuals and entities, including entities from China. What is China’s comment on this? Mao Ning stated that China has always opposed unilateral sanctions without a basis in international law and without UN Security Council authorization, and strongly disapproves of the UK’s actions. Mao Ning pointed out that regarding the Ukraine crisis, China has been committed to promoting peace talks and strictly controlling the export of dual-use military and civilian items. “Normal exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia should not be disturbed or affected. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.” (The Paper)
