The New York City Police Department announced on the 7th that an officer died “due to illness” while performing support duties for military operations against Iran in Kuwait on the 6th. The NYPD issued a statement saying the deceased officer served in the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army National Guard and held the rank of Major. He joined the NYPD in 2014. New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement saying the officer died while performing support duties at the U.S. military’s Biling Camp in Kuwait on the 6th. Both statements did not provide further details. Previously, the U.S. military issued a statement saying that as of 4 p.m. Eastern Time on the 2nd (5 a.m. Beijing Time on the 3rd), six U.S. soldiers had died in military operations against Iran.
