Japanese life insurance companies' foreign bond sales in February reached the highest level since the end of 2023

The Japanese Ministry of Finance announced preliminary data on Monday showing that Japanese life insurance companies sold a record amount of foreign bonds in February, the highest in over two years. The data indicates that in that month, life insurers net sold 618.7 billion yen of foreign bonds, the largest since November 2023. Additionally, domestic Japanese banks sold 3.14 trillion yen of overseas debt last month, the highest level since October 2024.
