Techub News reports that, according to Cointelegraph, U.S. Representative Michael Cloud, along with 28 members of Congress, has sent a letter to congressional leaders demanding a permanent ban on the issuance of central bank digital currencies (CBDC) in the United States.
The lawmakers believe that the previously proposed Federal Reserve Act amendments are insufficient to prohibit the U.S. central bank from issuing CBDC before 2031. The letter states: "A permanent ban on central bank digital currencies is necessary," and adds that CBDC "will subject Americans to unconstitutional financial surveillance and grant the unelected Federal Reserve unprecedented power to control Americans' finances, which will infringe on their civil liberties and financial freedoms."
