Spring Festival travel rush, Day 35: The estimated interregional population flow for the entire society is 194 million trips.
Today (March 8) marks the 35th day of the Spring Festival travel season. The total cross-regional passenger flow is expected to reach 194 million trips, a decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous period, but a 4.0% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Railway passenger volume is projected at 14 million trips, down 4.3% from the previous period but up 7.5% year-on-year. Road traffic (including non-operational private car trips on highways and general national and provincial roads, as well as commercial road passenger transport) is expected to reach 177 million trips, a decrease of 1.3% from the previous period but a 3.6% increase compared to 2025. Specifically, commercial road passenger transport is estimated at 32.94 million trips, down 6.0% from the previous period but up 2.7% year-on-year; non-operational private car trips on highways and general roads are expected to be 144 million trips, a slight decrease of 0.2% from the previous period and a 3.8% increase compared to 2025. Waterway passenger volume is projected at 820,000 trips, up 0.8% from the previous period and a 29.1% increase compared to 2025. Civil aviation passenger volume is estimated at 2.22 million trips, an increase of 3.8% from the previous period and 4.3% year-on-year. (CCTV News)
