Tonify the Kidney First by Nourishing Jing
Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner Wang Linxia
People with Jing deficiency and insufficient kidney essence often exhibit these symptoms: soreness and weakness in the lower back and knees, fatigue in the legs, difficulty walking, along with dizziness, tinnitus, memory decline, premature graying and hair loss, and even lack of energy and reduced function.
Many people immediately take strong aphrodisiacs, but the more they supplement, the more they become deficient and prone to internal heat. In fact, traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes "Tonify the Kidney by Nourishing Jing first." Kidney essence is the foundation of the kidneys; only when the kidney essence is replenished can the kidney qi be generated and rooted.
Today, I want to share two gentle approaches to nourishing Jing:
1. Basic Regulation: You can use the principles of Wuzi Yanzong Wan, which includes goji berries, dodder seed, raspberries, Schisandra, and plantain seed, to tonify the kidneys and benefit Jing. This is suitable for those with Jing deficiency and unstable vital energy.
2. Deep Nourishment: If the kidney essence deficiency is severe and accompanied by Yin deficiency symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and hot palms and soles, consider using Zuo Gui Wan. This formula includes prepared rehmannia, Chinese yam, goji berries, and Cornus officinalis to gradually replenish Jing, achieving a balance of "nourishing without dryness, invigorating without heaviness."
Remember, nourishing Jing should be gentle and not rushed. First, strengthen the spleen and stomach, then slowly nourish the kidney essence, so the body can truly recover.
