Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone confirms 28 key city projects, with new schools and new industries both coming to fruition
Recently, Beijing officially released the list of key projects for the 2026 “Three 100s” initiative. Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (Beijing ETDZ) has been selected for 28 key projects, the highest number among all districts in Beijing.
These 28 projects in Beijing ETDZ cover major technological innovation and modern industries, significant infrastructure, and major improvements in people’s livelihoods. Leading domestic and international companies such as Sanofi, Shouyao Holdings, BOE, and CATL are increasing their investments through capital increases, expansion, and establishing factories. They aim to create a new model zone for high-quality production and build an internationally top-tier high-end industrial complex, strengthening the industrial foundation.
Industrial projects focus on emerging and future industries such as new energy vehicles, healthcare, and commercial aerospace, becoming key drivers for expanding the regional industrial landscape. Among them, the Aerospace Intelligent Manufacturing Headquarters and Lightweight Components Industrialization Base will focus on R&D around key projects like heat expansion technology and aircraft skin stretching equipment. They will also build production lines for heat expansion forming equipment and aircraft structural parts. Once completed, these facilities will support well-known vehicle manufacturers in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and promote coordinated development of regional industrial and supply chains.
Infrastructure and livelihood improvement projects are also progressing on multiple fronts, covering transportation, water services, housing and community services, education, and garden city development. These efforts continuously optimize urban functions and enhance residents’ well-being. In terms of educational resources, six major centers in the ETDZ will support elementary schools, and Beijing Normal University Affiliated Middle School ETDZ Campus will begin construction this year. These schools will meet the demand for quality education among local residents, improve their sense of gain and happiness, and provide a solid foundation for attracting and retaining talent in the region.
After the Spring Festival holiday, the construction of key projects in Beijing ETDZ has accelerated. Projects such as the Baisai Si key biological reagent R&D, production, and technical service capacity enhancement demonstration project and the Beijing Times Battery Base have resumed work and are being pushed forward at full speed. Several projects, including the SMC (China) R&D Center, are expected to be nearly completed this year. Additionally, new projects like Shouyao Holdings’ new drug R&D and industrialization base and Beijing Normal University Affiliated Middle School ETDZ Campus will also start construction successively. More than half of the city’s key projects are expected to begin construction in the first half of this year.
A relevant official from the Beijing ETDZ Economic Development Bureau stated that the district has maintained a fixed asset investment scale of over 100 billion yuan for three consecutive years. In 2026, Beijing ETDZ aims for a fourth consecutive year of fixed asset investment exceeding 100 billion yuan. The district will leverage the guiding role of key city projects, improve the full lifecycle service system for project construction, and accelerate the transformation of projects from “planning diagrams” to “construction plans” and “real scene maps.” This steady investment growth will continue to solidify the foundation for high-quality regional economic development.
