Milestone: Waymo expands Robotaxi commercial operations to the 10th city

IT House, February 25 — Alphabet’s autonomous driving technology company Waymo announced on the 24th local time that it has launched commercial Robotaxi services in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio in Texas, and Orlando in Florida. This marks the expansion of Waymo’s service market to ten cities.

Waymo Co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana said:

The number of passengers using Waymo services is higher than ever, and we expect to achieve a goal of over 1 million trips per week by the end of this year.

Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Orlando are crucial to our plans. We are laying the foundation to serve more than 20 cities. Each community has its unique charm and transportation needs, and we are eager to provide residents and visitors with a safe, reliable, and enjoyable way to get around.

According to data provided by Waymo, the company has accumulated over 200 million miles of fully autonomous driving, with a severe injury accident rate that is 1/10 of that of human drivers, and pedestrian injuries reduced to 1/12.
