Our scientists have discovered for the first time that the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is an important source of natural hydrogen gas.

Journalists from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, learned that the research team led by Liu Chuanzhou and Wu Fuyuan discovered natural hydrogen trapped inside micro-inclusions in ophiolites on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for the first time. This discovery not only fills a research gap in this field domestically but also points to a new geological direction for China in searching for the next generation of clean energy.
