#SHIB SHIB, also known as Shiba Inu Coin, is a blockchain-based cryptocurrency.
Here is a detailed introduction:
• Basic Information: SHIB was launched in August 2020 as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, created by the anonymous developer "Ryoshi." Its name comes from the Japanese Shiba Inu dog. Initially designed as a competitor to Dogecoin, it aims to be a community-driven, decentralized cryptocurrency.
• Tokenomics: SHIB had an initial total supply of 1 quadrillion tokens. As of July 2025, there are approximately 589.25 trillion SHIB tokens in circulation, with about 410.75 trillion tokens burned. Users can burn SHIB by trading on ShibaSwap and other methods to increase its scarcity.
• Ecosystem: ShibaSwap is its core decentralized exchange, where users can trade, stake SHIB, and mint NFTs. Shibarium is an Ethereum-based Layer 2 scaling solution that increases transaction speed and reduces costs. The ecosystem also includes tokens such as LEASH and BONE, each with different functions and uses.
• Development History: At the project's launch, 50% of the SHIB token supply was locked in Uniswap, and 50% was sent to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. In 2021, Vitalik Buterin donated and burned a large amount of SHIB. In October 2021, SHIB's price surged, making it the highest-market-cap meme cryptocurrency. From 2022 to the present, products like ShibaSwap and Shibarium have launched, continuously expanding the ecosystem.
