Thailand set to expand crypto ETF landscape, with Ethereum, Solana, and XRP in the spotlight

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) is advancing plans to expand the crypto ETF market. According to Bloomberg, the regulator has confirmed that new rules will be introduced early next year, allowing local funds and institutions to issue crypto ETF products that include multiple digital assets.

Pornanong Budsaratragoon, Secretary-General of the Thailand SEC, stated that this move aims to meet the growing diversification needs of younger investors. With the Thai stock market down 7.6% this year, crypto assets are increasingly becoming a new option for both institutional and retail investors.

Which tokens are likely to be included?

Although the SEC has not officially announced a specific list, the market generally favors the following three:

Ethereum

• The world’s second-largest crypto asset, with deep institutional involvement
• CoinShares data shows that almost all institutions holding ETH ETFs are also heavily investing in Bitcoin ETFs
• Indicates that ETH is becoming the “natural second choice” for institutional allocation

Solana

• Favored by both retail and institutional investors
• The US already has spot and futures SOL ETFs launched
• Multiple applications from Grayscale, VanEck, and others are pending approval

XRP

• Maintains a strong position due to its cross-border payment advantages
• Bitwise, CoinShares, WisdomTree, and others have already submitted ETF applications
• XRP futures ETFs have started trading, and spot products are under review

Market reaction: XRP rose 1.97% today to $1.92; SOL rose 1.26% to $126.98; ETH rose 1.27% to $2,739.76.
