Simply being diligent is of no use to a person. Low-dimensional diligence is like a bull or a donkey grinding at a mill for a lifetime. In fact, it hasn't taken a single step out into the world; it is essential to elevate to a higher dimension, to read thousands of books, as reading is very important, to travel thousands of miles, and to have renowned teachers to guide you, along with personal insights. If you do not gain personal insights, do not think, and merely follow others, the end result will be that you follow the ideas of others. You will walk in the footsteps of others' thoughts. You can never be a truly independent and free thinker.
