Fraudulent groups continue to increase cases of scams using virtual currency investments as an excuse, with older adults becoming high-risk victims. To address the digital knowledge gap that leads to fraud vulnerabilities, BitoPro Exchange has announced a partnership with Gogolook’s digital anti-fraud app Whoscall to launch the “Virtual Currency Anti-Fraud Campaign.”
Through the four-step approach of “Protection, Recognition, Verification, and Reporting,” a dual-layer security network combining platform cybersecurity and communication identification is built. The goal is for the public to easily verify and block scam contact methods early on. To strengthen asset security for high-risk groups, users over 50 who complete the tasks will receive a free redemption code for the upgraded version of Whoscall, enhancing their anti-fraud protection.

According to internal fraud prevention data from BitoPro, the average financial loss for those over 50 is about 1.5 times higher than that of the 20-40 age group; most cases occur via communication apps, often involving retirement funds or long-term savings, causing significant financial impact once scammed. The older demographic is most often targeted by “hybrid scams” that combine emotional interaction with investment inducements. Scammers build long-term trust to lead victims to fake platforms or fake experts for investment fraud. Even highly educated victims may lower their guard and fail to verify due to over-trusting acquaintances, resulting in higher individual losses.
In response to the structural evolution of scams, BitoPro consistently prioritizes anti-fraud measures as a core platform task. Founder and CEO Zheng Guangtai stated that as virtual assets gradually become mainstream investment options, anti-fraud efforts are not only personal risk management but also a shared responsibility of the platform and industry.
In addition to implementing suspicious transaction monitoring, rigorous member registration review, and providing protective tools, BitoPro’s customer service team actively cares for high-risk users and collaborates with police and financial institutions to establish a joint defense system.
However, scams often occur during initial communication contact. If not identified promptly, they can easily escalate to asset transfer stages. Therefore, BitoPro and Whoscall are extending the defense line from the platform to the communication source, calling on more industry partners to join the anti-fraud efforts and strengthen the protective network.
Gogolook co-founder and CEO Guo Jianfu said, “As virtual assets become part of mainstream finance, anti-fraud technology must evolve accordingly. This is also why Whoscall is once again entering the virtual currency space through strategic cooperation. We hope that by partnering with BitoPro, Whoscall can serve as an important tool for fraud verification, helping users develop sharper anti-fraud awareness when engaging in new digital investments. We also urge every user to adopt the mindset of ‘Verify first, then act’ when encountering unfamiliar investment information, to jointly create a secure digital financial environment.”
This initiative centers on the “Four Steps of Anti-Fraud,” guiding users to proactively build daily defenses. The first steps are “Protection” and “Recognition,” utilizing BitoPro’s security settings such as Passkey, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and anti-phishing codes to strengthen account security, combined with Whoscall’s “Personal Data Leak Check” to regularly assess personal cybersecurity risks. Users are encouraged to read Whoscall’s anti-fraud alerts regularly to stay updated on the latest scam tactics, internalizing risk recognition as a daily habit.
In the “Verification” and “Reporting” stages, users who receive suspected fake official messages can verify the authenticity via BitoPro’s “Official Verification Page” or Whoscall’s “One-Click Lookup” to identify phone numbers or URLs, or upload screenshots to check content authenticity. They can also report cases through the “Community Scam Reporting Platform” to prevent further victims.
In March, coinciding with the 12th anniversary of BitoGroup, the platform launched an anti-fraud mission activity. Users who complete designated anti-fraud checks and quizzes on the BitoPro event page can receive a limited edition of the Whoscall Premium – Basic Plan, which includes “Automatic Number Database Updates,” “Automatic Block of Spam Calls,” “Smart SMS Manager,” and “Real-Time Call Identification Plus” (iOS only). Additionally, the monthly “Anti-Fraud Pop Quiz” will feature a virtual currency scam theme in late March, with participants having a chance to win Bitcoin worth NT$6,000 upon passing the quiz. Not only can you prevent scams, but you can also earn rewards!
